Stephon Marbury, visiting San Antonio yesterday with the Knicks- a team that has benched him permanently- acknowledged that if the Knicks cut him and the Spurs show interest, playing for San Antonio would be at the top of his list.

The New York Post reports in Wednesday morning's editions that Marbury felt another snub from Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni yesterday when injured Eddy Curry was activated over him for last night's game against the Spurs.

Curry himself had been the subject of a trade rumor involving the Spurs earlier in the week-- an idea most Spurs fans reacted negatively to.

"Who wouldn't want to play for San Antonio?" Marbury said. "To play with Tim Duncan, who would complain about that? That's a great organization, they win championships. They have a nice system and I like (Gregg) Popovich as coach. I can play 1 or the 2. If I was a free agent, yeah."

Spurs general manager R.C. Buford has said he might look for a point guard after losing Tony Parker for a month.

The only point guards on the roster are rookie George Hill, who started last night, and Jacque Vaughn. A trade is unlikely because Marbury is scheduled to earn $42 million over the next two seasons. The Knicks' history suggests that they might be inclined to negotiate a buyout for Marbury, who then would become a free agent, but Knicks G.M. Donnie Walsh has indicated that he is not ready to waive Marbury.

"It's a situation where the Knicks are trying to make his stay miserable so he asks for a much less expensive buyout," said one insider. "It's a textbook play."

D'Antoni has taken some Heat from Knicks fans who feel Marbury has been slighted. "I know, but we get back to the same thing. I just think it's better that I'm going to play my guys. And that's who's going to play. So there's no reason to change course right now."

Marbury wasn't surprised.

"Mike said he's going forward and not playing me," Marbury said. "I'll wait the whole year if I have to."

Stephon Marbury is a loser. He has not been a winner anywhere he has played. There is a reason Mike D'Antoni has him riding the bench. Marbury is a talented player but he doesn't understand the concept of a team. The Spurs were built with great players who don't have the ego to get in the way. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginboli are three great players but none of them ever complain about playing time or the amount of shots they take. The Spurs aren't going to win a title this year. It sucks to say that but it is the truth. It would have been hard without Ginobli for 2 months but now Parker is also out for a month. The Spurs would be lucky to be at .500 by the time they get both players back. As much as i love the Spurs this just isn't their year. They won't be able to compete with the Lakers, Hornets, or Jazz. In order for the Spurs to even hang around .500 Roger Mason Jr., Michael Finley, Ime Udoka, and George Hill need to produce. When Duncan isn't on the court who will the offense run around, where will points come from without Duncan on the floor? Duncan opens up shots for the perimiter shooters. Without Manu and Tony driving to the basket offense will be hard to find. All the Spurs need is one horrible year, find themselves in the lottery, have a top 10 draft pick and then things will be okay... I hope. Without adding another player this team as is won't win another title. Duncan needs another title before he retires. Lets sign someone big in the offseason if we can't do it through the draft.

This guy is a cancer for any organization he is a part of because he shown he is not a team player but a selfish chump. His attitude is completely opposite of what the Spurs stand for as a team.

Robert Horry was a chump - you guys didn't seem to have a problem with him. Seriously Horry got kicked off the Suns for throwing a towel in the coach's face and feigning injury to not play.

Besides you owe it to Suns fans to give us a laugh.
